Victory News – March 5, 2021

Hi Friends,

I have a confession to make. Do you remember the Ice Bucket challenge that everyone was doing a few years ago to support ALS? I jumped onto that bandwagon, poured ice water over my head, recorded a video, and encouraged someone else to do the same. The only problem was I didn’t actually give a donation to ALS, at least not at first. (Later, my conscience caught up with me and I gave a donation.)
I did some research and I found out that I’m not the only one who skipped the main purpose of the challenge. Supposedly, one out of ten people who did the challenge never gave a donation.
That same mentality can happen in our Christian faith. We can do all the outward religious things such as going to church, singing songs, and reading our Bibles, but then we might actually skip the goal of our faith, which is to love God and love our neighbor.
This weekend, we’ll listen to what the biblical author, James, has to say about our faith. He wants us to get rid of the toxic idea that faith is just head knowledge without action. Instead, he will show us that real faith in Jesus leads to deeds of love.

Hope to see you for worship this weekend on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Ben

ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bill shared a message about labels. The world may have taught us to look at and treat people a certain way based on their appearance or social status, but God teaches us to treat all people with mercy, loving all our neighbors as ourselves. Click here to read or watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend –  Pastor Ben continues the series with a message about living out our faith. God teaches us that “faith without deeds is dead”. In other words, God wants us to serve and care for others as a reflection of His love in our communities. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can join in these services at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.
