Victory News – May 10, 2019

Dear Friends,

Imagine you have two pennies. One is dark, tarnished, frayed a little on the edges.  The other one is bright and shiny. They look different. But the United States Department of Treasury says they have the exact same value.

Imagine two people. One is roughed-up from difficult times in life, frayed on the edges. The other one is full of smiles because life has been pretty easy. God, who made them both in his image, says that in Jesus, both lives have the same value.

This Mother’s Day weekend, we are going to see how Jesus changes our view: our view of others, our view of ourselves, and our view of what is important. In the meantime… Know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect (1 Peter 1:18-19).

Your life has value. See you on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, in person or online.

Sharing Christ’s love and victory,

Pastor Bill

ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Ben shared a message about how we are changed through the Word and the Holy Spirit. We grow in faith and our relationship with Christ every time we engage in God’s Word, making us stronger disciples of Christ and growing the church as a whole. Click here to view or read last Sunday’s message.

Coming Up This Sunday – This week, Pastor Bill will share a message about the value of women throughout the history of Christianity. Although men and women serve different roles in God’s kingdom, we are all one in Christ. Because we are God’s children, we are changed for eternity. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online.

Mother’s Day at Victory – Victory will celebrate moms and mother figures at our Mother’s Day services this Sunday, May 12. There will be a
photo booth for you to snap a family picture, a gift for moms, a song by our Victory Kids, and a message about what it means to be children of God. We’ll also share a video featuring members of the Victory community telling us about their moms. See you there!

Tuition Assistance Program – The Tuition Assistance Program provides assistance to those youth of our congregation pursuing a Lutheran-based education. In addition, the program provides an opportunity for our congregation to show their encouragement and support for a Lutheran-based education. If you are interested in donating to the Tuition Assistance Program, there are many methods for giving. You can give online, mail in your donation, or leave it in the offering plate on Sundays with “Tuition Assistance” in the memo. For more information about local Christian education opportunities, click here.

Blood Drive – On Wednesday, May 22, Victory will again partner with BloodCenter of Wisconsin (part of Versiti) to offer a blood drive at the Ministry Center. Refreshments and childcare provided during your donation. Appointments encouraged. Click here to make your appointment, or call (877) 232-4376. All donors will receive “I Love Wisconsin” shirts as a thank-you for saving lives. You can also support the blood drive by providing child care for donors, donating snacks, and helping with clean-up.
