Pastor’s Message

Dear Friends,

It happened again this morning: I went running and I forgot to take water with me. I remembered when I wasn’t more than 100 yards away from home, but instead of taking the time to go back and get the water, I just kept on going. It worked out okay today, but that is not always the way it is. Sometimes when I am out running, I NEED water, especially when I don’t have it with me.

Psalm 42:1 says, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.” With these words David, the psalm writer, compares himself to a deer living in the desert which is faint from thirst.

A troubled heart is in desperate need of the refreshment that only God can give. Often in life, our own sin and the sins of others make us faint. Every life has its arid times and the horizon seems to be bleak. We become weak, weary, and in need of refreshment. We pant for God. And graciously, God is always right there beside us. All we need to do is drink in his unending love and mercy. “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. (Revelation 22:17)

Are you spiritually thirsty? Jesus offers us the water of life, freely. No cost. His desire is simply that you would be refreshed by his forgiveness and love!

Sharing Christ’s Victory,

Pastor Bill

Current Series – Relationships: Some Assembly Required

ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Bill shared the good news about God’s relationship with us: some assembly was required, but Jesus did it all for us.  Click here to watch last week’s message.

Coming Up This Sunday – Join us at 8:30 or 10:15 am at church or online for the next message in our series called “Love Wanted… and Needed”. Jesus calls us to love our neighbors, but our neighbors aren’t the only ones who need help.  We all need help from Jesus to reconcile our relationship with God and be forgiven of our sins.

Victory News

Call Update – This week, Pastor Jim Buske notified us that he would be returning the call we issued him to be the associate pastor at Victory of the Lamb.  Please continue to pray for Pastor Jim as he continues his work with the Lighthouse Youth Center in Milwaukee.  Jeff Guenther, our Leadership Team president, will share the next steps in the call process during church on Sunday.

Pastoral Care – From May 25 through June 3, Pastor Bill will be on vacation.  Former pastor and now lay-evangelist Ken Gawrisch is our emergency contact while Pastor Bill is on vacation. Should you need pastoral care, you may contact Ken at 414-529-2494.

Dad Photos Needed – We need pictures from you! This Father’s Day, Victory of the Lamb will share a photo slideshow of dads and words about fatherhood.  If you have a photo to share of a dad in your life, please submit it here or email it to office@victoryofthelamb.com.

Victory Opportunities

Parsonage Work Day – Thank you to all of the dedicated volunteers who have been working on the parsonage at 7707 W. Plainsview Ave. in Franklin.  We are nearing the ending phases of work and would like to get everything completed. Some remaining jobs include painting, staining, making touch-ups, doing yard work and taking materials to the dump. Therefore, if you are able to help with these jobs, please join us at the parsonage next Saturday, May 19 at any time between 9 am and 12 pm. Thank you in advance for your work!

Soccer Camp – Soccer Camp is the biggest outreach event of the year, and you have the opportunity to be a part of it!  We are currently recruiting coaches and assistant coaches to lead teams, run drills, and hang out with some great kids during Soccer Camp (June 25-28).  If you are looking for a way to get involved, click here to register for coaching.

Tuition Assistance Program – The Tuition Assistance Program provides assistance to those youth of our congregation pursuing a Lutheran-based education. In addition, the program provides an opportunity for our congregation to show their encouragement and support for a Lutheran-based education. If you are interested in donating to the Tuition Assistance Program, there are many methods for giving. You can give online, mail in your donation, or leave it in the offering plate on Sundays with “Tuition Assistance” in the memo.
