I can’t believe it is Memorial Day Weekend. It seems like yesterday and it was 20 something below zero in January.
I imagine a lot of families are waking up today saying, “I can’t believe it is Memorial Day Weekend.” But, their lives are full of grief as they think back to the loved one or ones that lost their lives fighting for the freedoms we enjoy in our country. This weekend, we thank God for their sacrifice that made it so that we can continue to worship our Savior God in peace.
This weekend, we also celebrate all those who are blessed to serve God and one another here on earth. It is a celebration of a living, breathing, dynamic body called the church. The church gathers and serves in love because Jesus’ resurrection changed everything. Here is how one of the early church members was characterized: She was always doing good and helping the poor (Acts 9:36).
See you at this kind of church this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, in person or online.
Sharing Christ’s love and victory,
CURRENT SERIES – Changed
ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Ben shared a message about Jesus changes us through baptism. Baptism brings us our identity. Critics, culture, past sins, age, illness, job, etc. don’t define you; God does! Click here to view or read last Sunday’s message.
Coming Up This Sunday – This week, Pastor Bill will wrap up our Changed series with a message about what it means to be change agents for Christ. Want to make a difference? Want to be a part of something bigger than yourself? Welcome to the body of Christ! As we share Christ with others, our lives are constantly being changed as well.
Tuition Assistance Program – The Tuition Assistance Program provides assistance to those youth of our congregation pursuing a Lutheran-based education. In addition, the program provides an opportunity for our congregation to show their encouragement and support for a Lutheran-based education. If you are interested in donating to the Tuition Assistance Program, there are many methods for giving. You can give online, mail in your donation, or leave it in the offering plate on Sundays with “Tuition Assistance” in the memo. For more information about local Christian education opportunities, click here.
Memorial Day – This weekend, we celebrate the start of summer, but we also take time to remember those service men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to secure the freedoms we enjoy in America. We encourage you to take time to pray for our country and the families of those who have lost their lives serving.
