This Memorial Day, I’m glad that I don’t have some memories.
I’m glad that my memories don’t include hiding in a basement for worship, having to sneak in a reading of God’s Word. I don’t have to look over my shoulder for who may want to arrest or kill me for worshiping Jesus, the Savior of the world.
I’m glad that my memories don’t include enemy soldiers walking down my street, bombs blowing up my neighborhood. I don’t have to worry about being arrested for no reason.
I’m glad that my memories don’t include not being able to vote. When I vote, I’m not forced to vote for a specific candidate, nor do I have only one candidate for which I can vote.
I’m glad that my memories don’t include electricity that sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t, malaria because of dirty water. I never worry about empty shelves at the grocery store.
I’m glad that my memories don’t include being bored at home because there was no school for me to attend, not being able to read because no one was allowed to teach me, having the desire to continue my education but no place to go.
Today and every day I thank God for all the brave men and women who served and are serving so that I may be free from the possibility of so many horrible memories.
And, I thank God that He remembers my and your sins no more!
Sharing Christ’s Victory,
Current Series – Relationships: Some Assembly Required
ICYMI – Last week, Pastor Bill shared a message entitled “Love Wanted… and Needed” in which we learned how to structure the supports for our relationships with others: with love. We can only truly love our neighbors when we recognize our own need for love and salvation from Jesus. Click here to catch up.
Coming Up This Sunday – Pastor Pete Panitzke from St. Paul’s Muskego will wrap up our series with a message called “Love Yourself”. Join us at 8:30 or 10:15 am at church or online.
Pastoral Care – Pastor Bill will be on vacation from now until June 3. Former pastor and now lay-evangelist Ken Gawrisch is our emergency contact while Pastor Bill is on vacation. Should you need pastoral care, you may contact Ken at 414-529-2494.
Soccer Camp – The best week of the summer is coming! Victory of the Lamb’s 11th annual Soccer Camp will take place June 25-28. It will be at Polonia Soccer Club each day from 1-4:30pm. To ensure that your child receives a t-shirt, please register online by THIS THURSDAY, May 31 on our registration website.
Father’s Day – Join us at 8:30 or 10:15 am on Father’s Day (Sunday, June 17) as we celebrate dads. Whether you are a father, have a father, act as a stand-in dad, or know some great dads, we invite you to come learn about your Heavenly Father at this special service. Victory Kids will sing at both services. If you are interested in submitting a photo for a Dad slideshow, please click here to submit your photo. In honor of fathers, we will collect goods to benefit Guest House of Milwaukee. Items being collected are located on the Amazon Wish List for Guest House. Please bring items to church on June 10 or 17 if you want to participate in this opportunity.
Tuition Assistance Program – The Tuition Assistance Program provides assistance to those youth of our congregation pursuing a Lutheran-based education. In addition, the program provides an opportunity for our congregation to show their encouragement and support for a Lutheran-based education. If you are interested in donating to the Tuition Assistance Program, there are many methods for giving. You can give online, mail in your donation, or leave it in the offering plate on Sundays with “Tuition Assistance” in the memo.
Soccer Camp – Soccer Camp is the biggest outreach event of the year, and you can be a part of it! We are currently recruiting coaches to lead teams, run drills, and hang out with some great kids during Soccer Camp (June 25-28). If you are looking for a way to get involved, click here to register for coaching.
Matching Gifts and Thrivent Grants – One area of stewardship is the Matching Gift program that many companies offer their employees. We would encourage you to contact your employer to determine whether Victory of the Lamb would be eligible for a matching gift. If so, please consider completing paperwork for a matching gift. Additionally, if you have either a Thrivent life insurance policy or annuity, you may be able to designate grant money to Victory of the Lamb. Please speak to your agent or service department for additional information on this opportunity. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Jim Guenther (414.659.3648).
