PASTOR’S MESSAGE
Hi Friends,
When I was about 12 years old, my father and I went out into the desert of El Paso to practice shooting our shotguns. When we found the perfect sand dune for our back stop, my dad pulled over to the side and stopped. And I jumped out of the front seat of the pickup to get the shotguns out of the back.
But when I was midair, I saw a coiled-up rattlesnake right there on the ground. I want you to know I literally jumped back up into the pickup faster than I had jumped out. From my front row seat of the pickup, I looked down at the coiled mass and discovered it was an old garden hose and not a poisonous snake. The fear I felt at the possibility of what could have been still makes me tense up whenever I think about it. It wasn’t actually a dangerous situation, but the fact that it could have been makes me anxious.
This weekend, we are going to continue our series Emotions: Dealing with Feelings. We are going to look at the emotion of fear through the lens of anxiety. And we will find out how we can calm our troubled hearts!
You’re invited to join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.
Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,
Pastor Bill
