PASTOR’S MESSAGE

Hi Friends,

This pandemic has lots of consequences, but the most dangerous ramification is the effect it’s having on our mental, emotional, and spiritual health. I’m usually an optimistic guy, but I’ve noticed that I’ve been more irritable and short with my family and friends. There have also been times when I’ve woken up with a feeling of dread, wondering when this all is going to end. This pandemic is affecting me more than I want to admit.

Thankfully, I have a wonderful wife who continues to encourage me. Also, I thank God for Pastor Bill and our Victory team. Each time we talk, we point each other back to the hope we have in Christ.

Who do you have? Is your home a place of encouragement and hope? Do you have Christian brothers and sisters that can lift you up again? If not, please reach out. Call us. Email us. Reach out on social media. Nothing you say will surprise any of us. I know first-hand that we need each other.

I’m looking forward to worshiping with you this weekend. I’ll be continuing our study through the book of Romans as we tackle difficult topics. And this Sunday I will be preaching on the false assumption that the Bible teaches that women should not have equal rights. I pray that the message will give you hope and encouragement, especially as we honor the most important women in our lives, our mothers.

I invite you to join and participate online for worship this Saturday at 5:00pm or Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am.

Sharing Christ’s victory,

Pastor Ben

Current Series – Who Told You THat?

ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bill continued the series with an exploration of the belief that people are basically good. We know deep down that we ourselves are not “basically good”. That’s why we need Jesus, not only to rescue us from ourselves, but also to give us new hearts.  Click here to read or watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend –  This weekend, Pastor Ben helps us explore what the Bible says about women’s rights and roles. We’ll also celebrate Mother’s Day with a reading and video. Join us on Saturday at 5:00pm or Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can join in for all of these services online.

VICTORY OPPORTUNITIES

Mobilize MKE – Tomorrow is the LAST DAY to donate food for Mobilize MKE. We’ve over half-way to our goal of feeding 100,000 people in the Milwaukee area. You can stop by the Ministry Center today or Saturday from 2:00-6:00pm each day to leave your donation. For more information on this project (including how you can make a financial gift), go to mobilizemke.com.

Online Bible Studies – Pastor Bill and Pastor Ben are offering online Bible studies to help you grow in your faith during this challenging time. Pastor Bill is leading a study called “Joining Jesus on Mission” on Tuesday evenings, and Pastor Ben has a study to dive deeper into sermon topics on Wednesday mornings. To learn more about these studies and get involved, go to votl.life/online-bible-studies.

Versiti Blood Drive – Victory is partnering with Versiti to serve our community! We’ll host a blood drive on Wednesday, May 20 from 3:00-7:00pm. In order to maintain social distancing and ensure safety, we’ll be adjusting our set-up from other drives and we will not be able to provide child care during the drive. To sign up to donate, click here. Thank you for saving a life!

VICTORY NEWS

Mother’s Day is This Sunday! – This is your friendly reminder that this weekend is the annual celebration of moms and mother figures in our lives. At each of our weekend services, we’ll honor moms with a special reading and video. Even though you may not be able to be with your mom in-person this year, we encourage you to gather as a family to worship together online for one of our services.

Church Reopening Plan – As we approach the end of the Safer-At-Home order, Victory staff and leaders are discussing what it will look like to reopen our worship services and our building. We want to ensure that in-person worship and other activities are offered in a safe, hospitable way. Within the next two weeks, we will communicate this plan to our congregation so you know what to expect as the state of Wisconsin enters into the Badger Bounce Back plan.

This Week’s Bible Reading – This week in the Biblical Storyline Plan, we read 2 Kings 1-19. Learn more about this reading plan and get involved at votl.life/bible.
