Recently, Pastor Bill and I were talking and he made this observation: “We are a friendly church, but we are not necessarily a church of friends.” In other words, we are very good at making a first impression and welcoming a guest into church, but we struggle to build deeper relationships.
There are lots of reasons for this. Most of us have crammed schedules. Others already have a solid network of friends and family. The blessings of growth cause unique problems as well. There are so many new faces that connecting with one another can feel overwhelming.
The early Christian church also had those same challenges. They were a group of over 3,000 people. They had the daily pressure of providing for their families and connecting with their friends. Yet, they were known as a group of people that were devoted to one another. They loved God’s Word and they loved each other deeply.
My prayer is that God might move us to take that next step. I pray that we go from a friendly church to a church of friends. That we are not only a welcoming church, but a church that is devoted to one another in love.
This is not going to be easy. It will take the love and power of God and the Holy Spirit. This will take new strategies and personal sacrifice. But it will be worth it. We were designed by our Creator to connect with one another. As God says near the beginning of the Bible, “It is not good for [a person] to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). We need each other so that we might grow up into the people we were made to be. God help us!
Join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am in person or online.

CURRENT SERIES – WELCOME TO VICTORY
ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Bill kicked off our new series with a message about our mission at Victory. We share Jesus in church every week, but most importantly, in our communities and day-to-day interactions with those around us. Click here to read or watch last Sunday’s message.
Coming Up This Sunday – This weekend, Pastor Ben continues the series with a message about being welcoming. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online. You can also check out the Spotify playlist for the series here.

One person who brought his car to the show shared this about the event: “I have attended many car shows throughout the Milwaukee area, but must say, I’ve never met friendlier, more accommodating and hospitable people. The weather was cool, but the hospitality and kinship was warm.” Thank YOU for your donations of time and items to make this event a success!
