Victory News – November 12, 2021

Hi Friends,

How could a loving God send people to hell? That is a challenging question in our current culture. To most people (even strong Christians), God’s final judgment seems too extreme. In fact, there are a number of people who have left the Christian faith because they no longer believe in what they call “eternal conscious torment” (ECT).

But has the rejection of hell helped our society? Has it made us more loving and less judgmental? I would argue that the denial of God’s judgment has actually given us hell on earth. You see, instead of “leaving room for God’s wrath” (Romans 12:9), we have taken God’s judgment seat. We are trying to right all wrongs through civil unrest, cancel culture, and brute force. This is not limited to one political group or one ideology. It is happening across our nation, even breaking up family members.

Maybe it’s time we take another look at God’s righteous judgment. Maybe this controversial teaching of eternal life and eternal punishment might be the very thing that heals our homes and our community.

Hope to see you for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, in person or online as we look at what God’s Word says about eternal judgment and hell.  Feel free to invite a family member or friend to join you. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Ben

ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bill addresses concerns about how the Christian church views genders. Jesus challenged the inequality of his day and ours as he met with the Samaritan woman at the well. If we follow Jesus’ words and example, the Christian Church will be good for both men and women. You can click here to read and watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend –  Pastor Ben continues the series with a message about God’s judgment. When we study Jesus’ words on eternal judgment, we find that this message is good for society as it keeps us from being the judges and inflicting vengeance on our enemies. Join us for worship on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory on our live stream site or our YouTube channel.

Refugee Support Drive – Fort McCoy is currently housing over 12,000 refugees from Afghanistan, many of whom brought nothing but the clothing on their backs.
