I’ve never met someone proud of their prayer life. Even life-long, strong Christians struggle with prayer. Why is that? For one, we sometimes need help figuring out what to pray for. Even Jesus’ disciples asked him to teach them how to pray (See Luke 11:1-4). Another reason is we don’t believe our prayers will matter. We might think, “God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-loving. He will do what is best anyways. So why should I pray?” Or maybe you did pray during a time of desperation. A loved one was sick or in distress. You were certain a loving God would come to your rescue. But nothing seemed to happen. So you gave up on praying to God.
If this resonates with you, I want to encourage you to come to worship this Sunday. We are going to conclude our study of the book of James. As James closes this letter, he tells us to pray. He believes that one of the most important works we can do as Christians is to pray. Or as he puts it, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective“ (James 5:16).

CURRENT SERIES: Faith Works
ICYMI: Pastor Bill continued the series with a message about submitting to God. When we focus on building a close relationship to God, the rest become easier. We were encouraged to put our faith into action by changing our hearts through submission to God’s Word. When we humble ourselves in such a way, God will lift us up.To read and watch the message, click here.
Coming Up This Weekend: Pastor Ben wraps up the series with a message from James 5. As it says in James 1:16, every good and perfect gift comes from God. Therefore, God wants us to call on him in prayer. We pray a prayer of thanksgiving in times of blessing, and we call out to God for help in times of trial. James 5 tells us that prayer that flows from faith is powerful and effective. You can join in on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at the Ministry Center, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.
