MESSAGE OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Has your Christmas countdown began? Maybe you don’t start your Advent calendars until December 1, but my guess is that you’ve got the number of days – and all of the things you have to get done in those days – weighing heavily on your minds.
But when we consider why we celebrate Christmas, we can all find joy and hope. Jeremiah tells us this promise of God: ‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. “’In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land,'” (Jeremiah 33:14-15). God fulfilled this promise in Jesus, his son, on the first Christmas. And because of Jesus, we have joy and hope for all eternity.
For those facing tragedy, loneliness, abandonment, illness, or any other trauma, it can be really difficult to remember the joy and hope of Jesus at Christmas. If you are struggling this holiday season, we are here for you. Please reach out to us, and we’ll support you in any way we can.
Hope to see you for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, in person or online, as Pastor Forrest Bivens shares more about God’s promises for you through Jesus. Feel free to invite a family member or friend to join you. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.
Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,
Sammi Goodger, Communications Director
THIS WEEKEND – BEFORE YOU LOSE YOUR FAITH
ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bill wrapped up the series with a message about science. When we look at Jesus’ words, we will actually be encouraged to study science, discovering out the world works. You can click here to read and watch this message. And, if you missed Pastor Bill’s sermon from Thanksgiving Eve, you can click here to view and read it.
Coming Up This Weekend – This weekend, we welcome Pastor Forrest (Frosty) Bivens to share a message about God’s good promises. Join us for worship on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory on our live stream site or our YouTube channel.
Jingle Jam … Volunteers Still Needed – Jingle Jam is coming up NEXT FRIDAY, December 3. We’re still looking for volunteers throughout the week leading up to Jingle Jam to help with preparations and activities during the event. Please click here to sign up to volunteer. Also, if you plan to bring your family to the event, registration is now open! Click here to register to attend.
Friends of Jesus Toy Drive – From now through December 12, Victory will be collecting gifts for the Friends of Jesus Toy Drive. Please consider bringing new, wrapped toys of at least $15 in value to donate to Milwaukee children in need. Click here to learn more about the Toy Drive.
Operation Jesus Cares – This year, we’ll resume our partnership with St. Jacobi and Christ/St. Peter School to support Operation Jesus Cares. In this project, children at Christ/St. Peter School prepare and deliver care packages to their neighborhood. You can get involved by making a financial contribution, donating items from a Target Wish List, and/or volunteering at the packing party on December 17. Click here to learn more about Operation Jesus Cares.
Christmas at Victory – You’re invited to Victory this Christmas as we celebrate the greatest story ever told… the birth of our Savior Jesus, who brings hope and peace to the world. We’ll host services on December 23 at 6:30pm and December 24 at 1:00, 2:30, & 4:00pm. In order to help us plan for guests, we will be asking everyone to reserve their spots, starting December 1. (There will not be assigned seating, however.)
LINKED Update – Last weekend, our LINKED committee shared an update on our 3-year campaign to link Victory to Christ, one another, and our community. (In case you missed the update, you can click here and scroll to 54:00 to view, or click here to read the full update.) To close out the campaign, we’re challenging those who have not yet given to the LINKED Campaign to submit a pledge or give a gift during the month of December. A generous donor will be matching these new gifts up to $15,000. You can make your pledge here. For new and existing givers, you will be able to contribute to LINKED through 2022.
#GodWillProvide – At our Thanksgiving Eve worship service, we handed out $7,000 to you to make a difference in the community. We remind you to be the answer to someone’s prayer with this money. If you worshiped online and opted to receive a gift card in the mail, we’ll get those out to you early next week. Don’t forget to share your #GodWillProvide story, either on social media or by emailing it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
