For many of us this Thanksgiving was drastically different than in the past. Whatever your Thanksgiving looked like, I hope and pray your stomach was full of food and that your heart was full of gratitude to God.
As I scanned social media and talked with family and friends, I heard a number of comments about how people wished they were with their extended families but they were also glad that were able to keep their sweat pants on all day. What did you wear for Thanksgiving this year? Did you dress up? Or did you dress down?
This weekend as we wrap up our series, United: In Jesus We Trust, Pastor Bob is going to take us into Ephesians Chapter 6 and share with us the clothes we need to wear as we are in a real spiritual battle every day.
I look forward to worshiping with you this weekend in person or online this Saturday at 5:00pm or Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am.
Sharing Christ’s victory,
CURRENT SERIES – UNITED: IN JESUS WE TRUST
ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Ben shared a message about how our purpose unites us. When we live for the good of others, we become a united family of love. Click here to read or watch this message.
Coming Up This Weekend – This weekend, Pastor Bob Johannes will wrap up the series with a message about our true enemy. We are to work together to find our common spiritual enemy with spiritual weapons. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can join in for these services in person or online.
Light in the Darkness Devotion – When Jesus was born, he brought light into a dark world. Each Christmas, we are reminded of this gift of light as we celebrate Jesus’ birth. To help you and your family prepare your hearts for Christmas, Victory has created the Light in the Darkness devotion, a four week devotional series with Scripture readings, reflection questions, videos, and prayers. You can click here to request a print or digital copy of this devotion, which starts this Monday, November 30.
Jingle Jam! – Jingle Jam is coming up next week! Victory will offer a pick-up event on Thursday, December 3 from 5:00-7:00pm, and the online party will be on Friday, December 4 at 6:30pm. This online family party is a great opportunity for Victory to share Jesus in the community. You can click here to learn more. Please use an invite card and social media to share this great opportunity with families you know who would love to participate.
Christmas for the Community – At Christmas, we have an opportunity to give to others as God gave to us. This year, Victory is offering two different ways for you to support our community. We’re collecting toys for the Friends of Jesus Toy Drive, and we’re also collecting canned goods for MobilizeMKE’s 12 Days of Christmas initiative. You can drop off wrapped toys, as well as pick up and return food drive boxes, from November 29 through December 13. Learn more about both of these options by clicking here.
Saturday Worship Suspended – In order to limit contact for all people, and due to volunteer shortages, we will be suspending our Saturday worship services until further notices. You’ll still be able to join us for worship in-person and online on Sundays at 9:00 & 10:30am.
Biblical Storyline Lecture – The next Biblical Storyline Lecture is this Wednesday, December 2 at 6:30pm. You can join us in person or online for the lecture. Pastor Ben will dig into the book of Acts to learn about how the Christian church changed the world. Learn more about this lecture series and the reading plan at votl.life/bible.
This Week’s Bible Reading – This week in the Biblical Storyline Plan, we read Luke 17-24 and Acts 1-8. Supporting videos for this week included Overview: Luke (Part 2) , Overview: Acts (Part 1), and Holy Spirit. Learn more about this reading plan and get involved at votl.life/bible.
