Victory News – November 29, 2019

Dear Friends,

Last night and early this morning, many of you braved the cold and the crowds hoping to find some deals. And you weren’t alone. According to estimates by the National Retail Federation, people who shop on Black Friday spend an average of just over $1,000 with total sales of over $720 billion across the country.

But did you find what you were hoping for? Were you one of the first five people in line to get that huge TV available as a doorbuster item? Did you snag that toy you wanted to get for your kids? Or were you hoping to find something that you can’t find in a store?

If you’ve been hoping for something or someone to come along that gives you hope for tomorrow, rest assured: hope is coming. As we enter the season of Advent, we’ll track hope as it arrives into the lives of some of the key people in the birth narrative of Jesus. We will find out that God will never leave us or forget us. Hope is on the way.

Join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am in person or online.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Sammi Goodger
Communications Director

ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Bill continued the series with a message about why we pursue excellence at Victory. We give God our first and our best, pursuing excellence in all we do to be positive representatives of His Kingdom. Click here to read or watch last Sunday’s message. You can also access Pastor Ben’s message on Generosity from Thanksgiving Eve, which wrapped up the Welcome to Victory series, by clicking here.

Coming Up This Sunday – This weekend, Pastor Bill kicks off our new series, Hope. Sometimes in a season of waiting in life, we feel forgotten. We feel as if God lost our address and does not even know where we are. However, we must remind ourselves that hope is coming. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online. You can also check out the Spotify playlist for the series here.

Christmas Decorating & Jingle Jam Prep – Immediately following second service on Sunday, we’ll start decorating the Ministry Center for Christmas! If you are able, we encourage you to stay as long as you are able to beautify our church for the holiday season. We’ll also be preparing items for Jingle Jam. Lunch provided; no RSVP needed.

Will & Estate Planning Seminar – On Wednesday, December 4 at 6:30pm, Mr. Rick Kneser will offer a Will & Estate Planning Seminar. This information is for adults of all ages as we consider how God has blessed us and how we can be a blessing to our congregation and the world-wide mission of the Lord’s Church. Young couples are especially invited since Rick will discuss Medical and Financial Power of Attorney forms as well as other tools for the “what if” scenarios that pop up in life. Come and start your planning process which will be a blessing for you, your family and church family.

Christmas at Victory – Hope is coming… and his name is Jesus. You are invited to Christmas at Victory, happening on Christmas Eve at 1:00, 3:00, and 5:00pm. We encourage you to invite your friends and family by sharing the event on Facebook, reposting on Instagram, and retweeting on Twitter. Invite cards will soon be available for you to personally invite people as well. We look forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus with you!

Jingle Jam! – Our next community opportunity is Jingle Jam!, happening on Friday, December 6 from 6:00-8:00pm. At this free event, we’ll offer cookies and hot cocoa, pictures with Santa and family portraits, and a great time for the whole family. Click here to sign up to volunteer at the event. (NOTE: You will need to log into your MyVOTL account to sign up.) You can also grab invite cards at church to ask a friend or neighbor to join you and your family at this event.

Friends of Jesus Toy Drive – Victory is again partnering with Friends of Jesus as a collection site for their annual Christmas Toy Drive. Through next weekend, you’re invited to bring new, wrapped toys to church for the toy drive. When you get to church, head to the welcome area with your gift. Please attach a green sheet to your present to let volunteers know for whom your gift is intended.

Operation Jesus Cares 2019 – Victory of the Lamb will partner with Christ/St. Peter School again this year for Operation Jesus Cares on Wednesday, December 18. We’ll work with the school to prepare and deliver care packages to the neighborhood around the school. You can donate to the event now by clicking here and designating “Operation Jesus Cares” for your donation. You can also click here to volunteer at the event.
