It’s easy to judge others, even if we don’t intend to do so.
One Sunday morning, a man in ragged clothes, looking rugged and walking slowly, made his way down the side of the highway near a church. Car after car passed by the man and pulled into the church parking lot. Some people in their cars talked about him as they passed by, and some pretended not to notice him.
When the church service started the man walked into the church. The ushers hoped he was going to sit in the back but no such “luck.” He kept walking. Everyone watched as this disheveled man walked all the way up to the altar.
The pastor, who was in on the ruse, stopped the reading and introduced the man as their guest mission speaker.
As the saying goes, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Unfortunately, many of us, myself included, can be lightning quick to judge people.
I encourage you to bring a friend, a family member, or anyone who thinks that Christianity is all about judging to church this Sunday, because we are going to talk about judgment as we continue our series Start With Jesus. So join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am in person or online.
Sharing Christ’s love and victory,
CURRENT SERIES – START WITH JESUS
ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Ben continued the series with a message about giving. Jesus met the physical needs of the poor and needy by feeding and healing them. Most importantly, he met the spiritual needs of all of us by reconciling us to God. How would the world be different if we worked to serve the needy, rather than ignoring them? Click here to read or watch last Sunday’s message.
Coming Up This Sunday – This weekend, Pastor Bill continues the series with a message about judging others. Rather than judging, Jesus chose to demonstrate patience with those who had gone astray. Would our lives be different if we had the patience to get to know people before making decisions about them? Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online.
