Victory News – October 15, 2021

Hi Friends,

This weekend we are finishing up our sermon series on the book of Nehemiah. So far this book has been a masterclass in how to carry out a God-sized vision. Under Nehemiah’s leadership, God’s people seem to do everything necessary to be a great success.

But that’s why the last chapter of this book is such a surprise. After only a few years of completing their mission, they are backsliding into their old ways of apathy, idolatry, and greed. Once again, Nehemiah is called on to reform their ways and get them back on track.

The same can happen to us. No matter how successful we might be today in carrying out God’s vision, we all are capable of backsliding. Therefore, it is important for us to study this section of Nehemiah so that we might avoid such pitfalls.

Hope to see you for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, in person or online.  Feel free to invite a family member or friend to join you. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Ben

ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bill continued the series with a message about how God moves. The move of God comes through the Word of God. That’s why it’s essential that Victory pursues opportunities to reach people in our community and across the world. You can click here to read and watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Ben is going to wrap up the series with a reminder about keeping at the work to fulfill a God-sized vision. At Victory, we learn from each opportunity we take, and we continue to go back to our mission and values to stay focused on the work. Join us for worship on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory on our live stream site or our YouTube channel.

Franklin Trunk-Or Treat – Victory is honored to be a part of the Franklin Trunk-or-Treat, hosted at the Franklin Public Library this Thursday, October 21. We’ve still got opportunities for you to donate full-sized candy bars and volunteer at this event. Click here to get involved.

What Divides and Unites Us as Christians – Churches are different, and it may be difficult to understand why that is when we are all Christians. In the next Victory University class, starting October 27, Pastor Ben will explore what makes churches different and how we can learn from one another. Click here to learn more and register for the course.

Find Your Fit: THIS SUNDAY! – Worship and events at Victory simply don’t happen without our volunteers. Coming up on October 17 after each worship service, Victory is challenging you to find your fit on a serving team (if you aren’t actively serving already!). We’ll have information and leaders available for you to learn about your options. We’re encouraging all Victory attenders to try out a serving team for 3 months to see if it’s right for them. As always, you can learn more at votl.life/serve.

Victory News: Starting Next Week – With the changeover in our church management system, we will also be changing how we send our weekly Victory News emails. Starting next week, we’ll be using MailChimp to send this out each Friday. We encourage you to make sure you mark these emails appropriately so they go to your inbox!
