PASTOR’S MESSAGE

Hi Friends,

“Don’t judge a book by its cover” is good advice. It’s unwise to judge a person by their outward appearance. Although someone might not look impressive on the outside, you might find that they have an important story to tell. It’s wise to withhold judgment until you have a chance to get to know the person.

But what if, even after spending some time with them, you find out they still don’t have much to offer? Do you still acknowledge this person? Do you still welcome them and spend time with them?

Well, we might be tempted to devalue such a person, but in the Letter of James, he tells us not to discriminate. He wants us to see each person as a precious creation of God. Our Lord doesn’t want us to judge a “book” by its cover, nor does he want us to judge a “book” by what’s on the inside. Instead, we are to judge a “book” based on the Author.

You’re invited to join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Sharing Christ’s Victory,

Pastor Ben

CURRENT SERIES: Faith Works

ICYMI: Pastor Bill kicked off the new sermon series, Faith Works with a message in James 1. Everyone experiences times of testing and suffering. The book of James teaches us that challenges can be good because they result in greater maturity and a stronger faith. To read and watch the message, click here

Coming Up This Weekend: Pastor Ben continues the series with a message in James 2. It is common to categorize people based on their finances or influence. We might evaluate what such people can do for us. James 2 teaches us to put our faith in to action and love others without showing favoritism. All people were made by God and Jesus died for them all, therefore we ought not play favorites. You can join in on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.
