Victory News – October 8, 2021

Hi Friends,

Have you ever missed a text message? Maybe it was because your notifications were turned off. Maybe it was because your phone was turned off. Or maybe it was because you were in one of the stores where cell service is next to impossible. Whatever the reason, you missed the text.

I remember being in Pick-N-Save with a friend. We purchased everything on our list, only to find out once we got outside that his wife texted with one more item to purchase. Arg.

I can almost see Jesus nodding his head over the similarities to the messages he has for us. We get busy and distracted. We maybe don’t even think about picking up His Word, the Bible, and hearing from him. Or is that just me?

This weekend, we will continue our series Forward No Matter What, and receive a message from Jesus about spiritual renewal and the power of His Word. Hope to see you for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, in person or online.  Feel free to invite a family member or friend to join you. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,

Pastor Bill

ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Ben led us to examine how our own hearts impact the mission of the church. Inward repentance and renewal must precede outward projects and goals. You can click here to read and watch this message.

Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Bill continues the series with a message about how God moves. The move of God comes through the Word of God. That’s why it’s essential that Victory pursues opportunities to reach people in our community and across the world. Join us for worship on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory on our live stream site or our YouTube channel.

Blood Drive – Save a life… donate blood! Victory will host our final Versiti Blood Drive for the year on Wednesday, October 13 from 2:30-6:30pm. You can sign up to donate by clicking here.

Franklin Trunk-Or Treat – Victory is honored to be a part of the Franklin Trunk-or-Treat, hosted at the Franklin Public Library. We’ve still got opportunities for you to donate full-sized candy bars and volunteer at this event. Click here to get involved.

What Divides and Unites Us as Christians – Churches are different, and it may be difficult to understand why that is when we are all Christians. In the next Victory University class, starting October 27, Pastor Ben will explore what makes churches different and how we can learn from one another. Click here to learn more and register for the course.

Volunteers: Action Needed! – A reminder to our current volunteers: we are in the process of switching systems for scheduling and church management, and you received an email last week inviting you to sign into our new system (Planning Center) to set up your serving preferences. Please take care of this ASAP so our leaders can get started with scheduling for November and December. Thank you!

Find Your Fit: October 17 – Worship and events at Victory simply don’t happen without our volunteers. Coming up on October 17 after each worship service, Victory is challenging you to find your fit on a serving team (if you aren’t actively serving already!). We’ll have information and leaders available for you to learn about your options. We’re encouraging all Victory attenders to try out a serving team for 3 months to see if it’s right for them. As always, you can learn more at votl.life/serve.

Pastor Appreciation Sunday – This weekend, we’re recognizing all that Pastor Ben and Pastor Bill do for us at Victory. There will be some special treats in the lobby for you (and them!) to enjoy. We encourage you to drop them a note or say thanks to them when you see them for worship this weekend. We’ll also have a fall-themed photo backdrop in the lobby if you can convince them to snap a picture with you! Thanks for taking a moment to recognize these men who do so much for our Victory family.
