To remember your baptism is to reclaim your true identity as a child of God. Why? Because through the water and word of holy baptism you have exchanged the filthy old rags of your sins along with all the worn out, mis-fitting , and entirely inappropriate labels that the world has slapped on you for the brand new clothes of the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ your Savior!
“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ” (Galatians 3:26-27).
That’s why Sunday we passed out “Child of God” labels to illustrate the fact that your past history does not change your present identity. Did you wear yours? Where did it end up? On your closet door? On your fridge or bathroom mirror? Somewhere else? – Thank you by the way to Lexi and Josh and Sophie and Lydia for writing out all those labels!
And thank you to all of you who’ve shared pictures or stories with me about how that little label has helped you reclaim your true identity through holy baptism. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing pictures of your “Child of God” label on your fridge, on your mirror, or in one case… on the waitress who served you on Mother’s Day with a big smile on her face knowing that she too could also be called a Child of God!
If any of you have your own pictures or stories, I want to encourage you to share them with me yet. It’s so helpful for me and others to hear and see how God’s Word is making in a difference in your everyday world. And it encourages me to hear how all the hard work that goes into preaching matters in your life.
In case you missed it, here’s the link to this past Sunday’s service and sermon based on Galatians 3:26-27. Don’t miss out on re-discovering why your baptism can be considered the most important day of your life!
This Sunday Caleb will bring home our “The Most Important Day” series on baptism. We’ll also have an opportunity to witness baptisms in each of the services on Sunday. And we’ve got baptisms scheduled actually the next four Sundays in a row which is awesome!

Baby Bottle Blessing – Please remember to bring back the baby bottles we passed out the last two Sunday. The funds collected in these bottles will help support pregnancy care centers operated by WELS Lutherans for Life. The money collected will go to saving lives and spreading the love of Jesus to those making pregnancy decisions. You can return the bottle to church this Sunday or any of the remaining Sundays in May. If you prefer, you may put your donation in an envelope and mark it “BABY BOTTLE BLESSING”. Please fill out and return the insert in the bottle to receive a receipt for your tax-deductible donation.

Leadership Team Meeting – Monday evening this week we had a Leadership Team meeting at the ministry center. Look for the monthly update at the info table in the lobby either this Sunday or next when it’s published. I will include a link to it next week in my weekly email as well. And as always if you have any issues, questions, or concerns please communicate them with anyone on the Leadership Team. Contact info can be found here on our website.
Associate Pastor Call – Please keep Pastor Josh Odell and his family in your prayers as they deliberate our call to serve alongside me as an associate pastor at our church. Pastor Josh is also weighing our call with another call he received to St Peter, MN as well as his current call serving two churches in Eagle River and Phelps, WI. It sounds like he hopes to reach a decision in the next two weeks.
Caleb’s Call Day at the Seminary – Thursday, May 19th, at 10 am seniors like Caleb will be receiving their first full-time ministry calls during a special worship service at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.
