Diamond cutting is the practice of changing a diamond from a rough stone into a faceted gem. Cutting a diamond requires specialized knowledge, tools, equipment, and techniques because of its extreme difficulty. One miss hit and the diamond can be ruined. Since I shake a lot, I probably would be very good at cutting diamonds.
There is a diamond, however, that for many of us, is at our hands everyday. It is the diamond jewel known as God’s Word. We don’t have to be afraid to crack it open. In fact, because I shake a lot, it is the perfect book for me. In my devotion time this morning I read, Jeremiah 17:13 “LORD, you are the hope of Israel.” You know anyone who needs hope; hope to make sense out of life, hope for forgiveness, hope for a new start, hope for salvation?
God’s Word is living and active. I encourage you to spend some quiet time with God and his Word each day. An easy way for many to do this is by using The Bible App from YouVersion. You can download it to your phone and it comes complete with reading plans. And it will even read it for you.
This Sunday, Pastor Ben will conclude our Reformation series, “Seeking Certainty,” looking at Scripture Alone. And he will ask us, “What will you do with the Book that has been given to you?”
If you would like to review or share my message from last week on Christ Alone, here it is.
Reformation Prayer – On Reformation Day, October 31, Pastor Ben had the amazing opportunity to pray for the Senate of the State of Wisconsin. More Than Bricks – Our original goal was $500,000 with pledges received of $416,000, and through October we have been blessed with gifts of $417,509.54. To God be the glory! And we have been presented with a challenge to reach $450,000 by the end of the year, where we have a generous donor willing to match up to $10,000 of additional MTB giving, above any current regular MTB giving. If we can achieve this goal we will be able to fully pay off the Condo Parsonage in early January (in just 16 months from the loan origination). Learn more about this opportunity here.
Thanksgiving Service – Our Thanksgiving service will be held on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, Nov 22, at 6:30. Following our time of thanks we will celebrate with a pie social!
