Pastor Frosty Bivens proclaimed an amazing message for us last weekend at worship. If you didn’t get a chance to worship or if you want to review the message you can do that here.
“What did I get out of worship?” That is a question that we ask ourselves. By asking this question, we try to determine if the worship was worth our time. In fact, the word worship comes from the old English word worthship. So was it worth it? Is worship worthy of our time? Revelation 5:12 says, Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!
So the better question about worship is not “What did I get out of worship?” but “What did I give in worship?”.
Worship is about honoring, loving, and treasuring God above all people and all things.
This weekend we are beginning a new series called Path To Victory. In this series, we consider the parts that make up the Christian church here on earth. And we will begin with the part called Gather. Gather is about people gathering together to worship!
I look forward to worshiping with you this weekend in person or online this Saturday at 5:00pm or Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am.
Sharing Christ’s victory,
CURRENT SERIES – PATH TO VICTORY
ICYMI – Last weekend, Prof. Frosty Bivens shared a message about what it looks like to share Jesus and be a good neighbor. We can help our hurting neighbors by pointing them to justice, assure them of peace, and show them love. Click here to read or watch this message.
Coming Up This Weekend – This weekend, Pastor Bill starts a new series called Path to Victory. Although worship looks different for us than for the Early Christians, the outcome of committing to weekly worshiping with one another is the same: the church will grow, and so will each of us believers. Join us on Saturday at 5:00pm or Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can join in for these services in person or online.
Victory Teens – We’ve got several opportunities for teens to grow in faith at Victory. Pastor Ben starts Confirmation classes for students in grades 6-8 THIS Sunday, September 13 at 6:00pm via Zoom. Also for grades 6-8 is a new Middle School Group, which will meet the last Sunday of every month. And, our Quest group for grades 9-12 will have their first meeting THIS Sunday, September 13 at 7:00pm via Zoom. Learn more about these opportunities and register at votl.life/teens.
Being a Kid in an Electronic Age – The first presentation in our “Parenting Support for COVID and Beyond” series is coming up on Monday, September 21 at 6:30pm. You can join in-person, online, or watch on demand for some tips and strategies for helping your children navigate the benefits and challenges of technology. More information about this presentation and others in the series, go to votl.life/parenting.
Bedtime Stories – Save the Date! The next edition of Bedtime Stories at Victory is coming up on Friday, October 2 at 6:30pm.
