I don’t have a good memory. Just ask my wife. I rarely get the facts straight in my recollections. Our conversations usually go something like this: “Hey, honey, remember two years ago when we went to that Julia Roberts movie called Galaxy?” Then my wife will respond, “Yes, I remember, but it was five years ago, not two. And it was a Sandra Bullock movie, not Julia Roberts. And the movie is called Gravity, not Galaxy.”
But that’s how memories work. We don’t always get the facts right.
We live in a post-Christian society. That means, for most of us, Christianity is more of a memory than a reality. When it comes to our memory, we don’t always get the facts right.
That’s why we began this sermon series called Start with Jesus. We know that people might have incorrect assumptions about Christianity. So we wanted to go back to the founder and see what Christianity is all about.
When we start with Jesus, we are always surprised. He is different that what we might assume. He’s the only leader who showed complete integrity. He doesn’t want to manipulate us or control us. He is generous, loving, and giving.
In other words, when we see who Jesus really is, we find a person worth following. Who do you know who needs to hear the facts about the real Jesus? Would you forward this email to them? Would you invite them to worship with you this Sunday?
Join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am in person or online.
Sharing Christ’s love and victory,
CURRENT SERIES – START WITH JESUS
ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Bill kicked off our new series, Start with Jesus, with a message about integrity. Rather than worrying about winning the approval of the crowds and the priests, Jesus spoke with authenticity about his mission to save those dead in their sins – all of us. How would our lives be different if we lived lives of integrity rather than popularity? Click here to read or watch last Sunday’s message.
Coming Up This Sunday – This weekend, Pastor Ben continues the series with a message about serving others. Jesus demonstrated how we should serve others selflessly, not expecting anything in return. What would our lives be like if we served others selflessly? Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online.
