This weekend we are finishing up our series on the life of David. I hope you have enjoyed this series as much as I have. We are going to close this series by looking at David’s “last words”. These aren’t necessarily the last words he ever spoke, but these are the words by which he wanted to be remembered. Surprisingly, even after ruining his life, his relationships, and his kingdom, David is not filled with regret, but hope and thankfulness.
That’s how I want to finish my life. I want to be able to look back on my life without regret, filled with hope and thankfulness. How about you? This Sunday, we will discuss how David came to this conclusion and so can you. (Sneak peek: It helps when we see Jesus as the hero of history and not ourselves.)
Hope to see you for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am, in person or online. Feel free to invite a family member or friend to join you. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.
Reaching today’s people with Christ’s victory,
CURRENT SERIES – David: The (im)Perfect King
ICYMI – Last weekend, Pastor Bill shared a message about pride and our faith. Pride is the root cause of our sins. When we let pride get the best of us, we take credit for what God is doing in our lives. You can click here to read and watch this message.
Coming Up This Weekend – Pastor Ben will wrap up this series with a message about our legacy. David teaches us the value and importance of passing on blessings from God so the children who come after you can succeed better than you. Join us for worship on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory on our live stream site or our YouTube channel.
A Case for Christianity Course – C. S. Lewis’ book Mere Christianity has become one of the most influential Christian books of the last century. As a former atheist, he engages our doubts with empathy and patience. For the next Victory University course, Pastor Ben will lead a four-week book study on Mere Christianity, starting September 15. You can click here to learn more about the course and register.
Health & Safety Reminders – As you know, cases of COVID-19 are again on the rise in southeastern Wisconsin. Current CDC and local health guidelines recommend that all people over the age of 5 wear masks while indoors in an area of high transmission, such as our area. Additionally, for the safety of all those worshiping at Victory, we ask you to worship from home if any of the following apply to you:
– you have tested positive for COVID in the last 14 days
– you have been exposed to anyone who tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days and have not obtained a negative test result
– you have felt unwell in the last 48 hours
