PASTOR’S MESSAGE

Hi Friends,

When we read the ancient text of Genesis, we must resist what C.S. Lewis called “chronological snobbery”. That is we must fight against the idea that because Genesis is really old, it has nothing to say to our modern context. Lewis said some of the best ideas are the most ancient. And most new thoughts have just been regurgitated from the past.

As we continue to read through Genesis let’s remember who is speaking to us. This is the Holy Spirt talking through these authors.

And so, this Sunday, as we study the short and simple story of Cain and Abel, I pray that the Holy Spirit gives us hearts and minds that could grasp the depth of this account. This story is not just about an ancient squabble that got out of hand. This story is about the power of sin that resides in every human heart. It is about what happens when we want to be God by defining good and evil on our terms. It is about our distorted thoughts and evil desires that can only be rescued by the blood of the Lamb.

So come to worship this weekend with an open heart, ready to hear ancient truth applied to our modern problems.

You’re invited to join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am. You can worship at Victory, on our live stream site, or on our YouTube channel.

Sharing Christ’s Victory,

Pastor Ben

CURRENT SERIES: Origins

ICYMI: Pastor Bill continued the series with a lesson in Genesis 3 about the origin of our rebellion. God designed us to live for him but instead, the devil and ourselves want to be king of our lives. God comes onto the scene to fight the battle for us. The most expensive battle in the history of the world, the battle that cost God’s own son his life. God’s grace and mercy are bigger than our sin. To read and watch the message, click here

Coming Up This Weekend: Pastor Ben continues the series with a message in Genesis 4. God designed us to live lives of service towards others, so why do we struggle so much with envy? Genesis 4 tells the story of the first two siblings, Cain and Abel, and how Cain became envious of Abel’s success. This story shows us the origin of envy and how we can begin to overcome it. You can join in on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at Victory, on our live stream site, or our YouTube channel.
