Victory News – September 6, 2019

Dear Friends,

We are finishing up our sermon series on the book of Jonah. When it comes to the meaning of the book of Jonah, we often miss the boat. We might think the story is just about a runaway prophet and a big fish. That story works well for kids books, but the main message of Jonah is much deeper.

You see, when we read Jonah 4, we find the real reason Jonah ran away: he was prejudiced. He devalued the people of Nineveh.

That helps us see why God had this book placed in his Scriptures. God wants to expose our prejudices and biases. He wants to transform us into people who love everybody that God has made.

But how does God love people? He calls all people to repent, trust his good news, and leave their wicked ways. That’s how God loves all people. Now go and do likewise.

Join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am in person or online.

Sharing Christ’s love and victory,

Pastor Ben

ICYMI – Last Sunday, Pastor Bill continued this series with a message about second chances. God calls us to share Him with the world, even when it’s difficult, because he is a patient God who wants all people to come to faith. Click here to read or watch last Sunday’s message.

Coming Up This Sunday – This weekend, Pastor Ben will wrap up our Wanted series with a message about getting our hearts straight. As we go out into the world on mission, even as we share Jesus with the world, God continues to work on our hearts to help us truly understand his love and compassion for us. Join us on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30am at church or online.

We encourage you to grab an invite card in the lobby at church to invite someone you know to start with Jesus. We’ll also have a blessing and gift for all kids in attendance to help them start the school year off on the right track.
