Will Your Church Fix All My Problems?

Will Your Church Fix All My Problems?

Hello Friends,

There’s a strong feeling out there that when you’re right with God, everything should go right in your life too. God helps those who help themselves… right?

But Jesus said it pretty clearly: “In this world, you will have trouble.” So what kind of impact does Jesus make on the problems you face in life?

Find out this Sunday as we conclude our sermon series: thechurch&me.org FAQs

•    In the midst of all the snow that we had, I feel blessed to have had a window of opportunity this week to be with my sister and her family. This means I got to see my little 8 month old nephew, Malachi. Quite fun!
•    I hope you all get a chance if you haven’t yet to go online and use the spiritual gifts discovery tool. Don’t get discouraged if you tried early in the week and it wasn’t up and running. We’re pioneering in this effort and I’m really excited about helping you all discover how God has gifted you so that you can find ways to serve that will be joyful and fulfilling for you. Thank you, Mark Goodger, for all you’ve been doing to encourage volunteerism in our church!
•    It sounds like so far there are 6-9 of you who have responded to the Miller Park opportunity by saying you can help. That’s awesome! I’m not sure it’s enough though quite yet. Especially we need a coordinator to lead this effort. I do think it’s worth it though. The way I see it—this would have a significant impact on our ministry. We could take the roughly $6,000 that we would raise in this effort and we could divide it between, for example, the building fund and Operation Jesus Cares. Here’s that survey link again if you haven’t taken it yet:
•    This coming Wednesday, February 13th, is Ash Wednesday—the beginning of the Lent. Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by setting aside time for reflection on Jesus—his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial and resurrection. Our next sermon series to begin next Sunday will have a Lenten theme to it. At the same time you are all encouraged and welcome to attend any area WELS congregation for their Wednesday mid-week Lenten services. See this Sunday’s worship folder for services times.

In Christ,

Pastor Ben

Philippians 1:3-6   3 I thank my God every time I remember you.  4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy  5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,  6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
